COMPACT ,FAST AND AGILE.
DESIGNED TO SUIT ALL PADDLERS
The Vanhunks Snapper is the latest model to join our kayaking family. When we looked at the design of the Snapper we wanted to create a new and exciting shape that changed the perception of what a regular fishing kayak should be. We wanted to create a kayak that was both light and maneuverable without taking anything away from any features that make the Snapper the ultimate recreational fishing kayak.
The sharp keel shape at the bow and stern of the kayak cuts through the water easily making the Snapper very quick, agile, and incredibly responsive. The sit-in design of the Snapper elevates its stability despite the sharp keel shape, making it comfortable and balanced in any water condition.
The sit-in area has built-in padded seating that supports your back and the foot pedal rudder system is positioned on the side walls of the interior, ensuring extra leg space, and adding to your comfort whilst out adventuring. Operating the rudder blade has never been easier with the rudder locking system and rudder cable positioned directly in front of you on the left-hand side of the kayak. The rudder cable allows you to gently lift and drop the rudder as needed.
Storage is ample with there being storage compartments both behind and in front of the sit-in seating. At the front of the kayak, there is a round hatch that is perfect for stowing gear and safety equipment while the rear storage behind the seat is larger and oval and perfect for camping gear or that catch of the day. Both hatches are secured with water-tight rubber molded hatch lids that suck onto the kayak’s pre-molded hatch designs ensuring your gear stays safe and secure.
The carry handles positioned both on the nose and tail allow for easy lifting and transportation of the Snapper allowing you to get the kayak on and off the roof and into the water with ease.
Overall, the Snapper is made to handle all types of waterways from pristine, calm lakes to the open ocean. Its design and shape create a kayak that has speed and agility in all conditions making the Snapper great for getting to those hard-to-reach places.
Ready to take on all conditions, The Snapper is perfect for a day of fun on the water or that overdue camping getaway.
The Snapper kayak has a pointed keel shape at both ends which allows it to effortlessly cut through the water, making it a fast, nimble, and highly responsive watercraft. Despite the sharp keel, the sit-in design of the Snapper enhances its stability, making it well-balanced and comfortable to paddle.

Q:
The Snapper looks very thin, will I be able to balance?
A:
The Snapper is a sit-in kayak which means that your seating is a lot lower than most kayaks so your center of gravity is low which will add to the stability. The bottom of the kayak is also designed to maintain tilt with its flat design in the middle of the kayak and this also assists with balance.
Q:
Is it hard to transport due to its length?
A:
The Snapper is incredibly light and its slim design and shape allows for easy movement so transporting and loading the kayak is a simplified lightweight action.
Q:
There are two storage hatches, are these water-resistant?
A:
The hatches are sealed and separated from the main sit-in hatch by a moldered rubberized wall with marine sealant securing the walls in position so water from the main hatch cannot penetrate the storage hatches. The hatch lids are also molded to the shape of the opening and these lids suck on and around the hatch opening shape and this will help to prevent water from leaking into the hatch. Keep in mind that water will always find a way into an area through the minutest of spacing so with that in mind store your valuables in a waterproof dry bag just to be extra secure.
Q:
If the kayak’s splash jacket comes off in the water and I topple over won’t the kayak sink?
A:
No, As mentioned above the hatches that are positioned on the stern and bow of the Snapper are sealed compartments and do not open up into the main sitting compartment so they will act as air pockets and add buoyancy to the kayak.
Q:
Are there different-sized splash jackets to suit different paddlers?
A:
The Water jacket comes in one size but has adjustment bungees so that it will expand around the paddler’s size and seal up perfectly regardless of the shape or size of the paddler due to the elasticity of the bungee.
Q:
Can you adjust the rudder pedal length?
A:
Yes, The rudder pedals are on tracks and can easily be adjusted forward or back to suit the paddler’s length of leg.
Q:
Can the seating adjust forwards and backward?
A:
No, the seating is in a fixed position but there is no need to adjust the seat position as the foot pedals can adjust forwards and backward to suit the paddler. The seat is perfectly positioned to balance the kayak.
Q:
Can I use the Snapper in the sea?
A:
Yes definitely. The Snapper will perform on all waterways equally well. In the sea and wavey conditions the narrow nose shape will cut through the water and make it easy to keep your paddling momentum.
Q:
Can I disconnect the rudder if I don’t want to use it as I go in rocky areas to paddle?
A:
The rudder is easily removable by simply taking out the lynchpin, disconnecting the lines, and pulling out the blade. The Snapper will work well without a rudder as its hull design and shape generate natural tracking and direction. With regards to the rocky areas keep in mind that the rudder is spring loaded and will react to rocks and sand bars but flipping back to accommodate the knock from rocks or sandbars.
- Always store kayak in a shaded area and out of direct sunlight.
- Do not hang your kayak through the handles.
- Store your kayak on the side with the weight evenly displaced.
- Do not tie or try to secure your kayak through the handles.
- To avoid warping, ensure your kayak’s weight displacement is even during storage.
- Do not over tighten your kayak, especially in hot conditions as this can distort your kayak’s shape.
